Abitur
The Abitur is the highest school certificate
that can be obtained in the Federal Republic of
Germany. The Colegio Humboldt is an officially
recognized school by the KMK: The Permanent
Conference of the Ministers of Culture and
Public Education of the States of Germany and
since 1999 is authorized to offer this exam, the
Abitur. The School Principal, the Ambassador of
the Federal Republic of Germany and the Examiner
sent by the KMK, as well as the Principal of the
Board of the School sign this diploma.
The students that obtain the diploma of the
Abitur (allgemeine Hochschulreife), can enroll
and study any professional degree in Germany.
The German Abitur is like the International
Baccalaureat, accredited as a high-school
prestige diploma in many countries.
In order to obtain the Abitur diploma the
students of the Colegio Humboldt must attend the
“Integrated Group” during the High School, in which Mexican and German
students prepare themselves to obtain both
“Bachilleratos” (the Mexican and the German high
school degrees), complying with a special
program authorized by the BUAP (Puebla State
University) and the German Government.
Sprachdiplom
The Sprachdiplom is a certificate in
German language and is the most important
diploma offered by the German Government.
During
his/her attendance at the Colegio Humboldt each
student must take two German exams in order to
obtain the Sprachdiplom. Students that pass the
Sprachdiplom Level II, have the necessary
idiomatic knowledge to study in Germany.
The grades of our students are about average of
the ones of the other German schools in Mexico,
and above the other Latin America schools’
average.

BUAP (Benemérita
Universidad Autónoma de Puebla)
The High School of the Colegio
Humboldt is incorporated to the Puebla State
University BUAP, who is the local educative
authority for our study plans and approves the
High School Certificate (Certificado de
Bachillerato) at the end of the high school
studies. This Certificate has national and
international validity.
Our internal study plan complies with the BUAP’s
official study plans requirements, but enriches
it in all areas of knowledge, with the German
official study plans. And therefore our High
School is the only bicultural and trilingual
educative option.

First Certificate in English (FCE)
This exam corresponds to Level B2 in the Common European Framework for foreign languages. At this level, students should be able to:
-
Grasp the essential meaning of texts of a concrete or abstract nature, and take an active part in a technical conversation within their field of specialization.
-
Communicate with native speakers with sufficient spontaneity and fluency so that neither of the parties needs to make a great effort to understand the other.
-
Express themselves clearly about various topics, making correct use of more subtle shades of meaning.
-
Comment on news items and be able to examine the pros and cons in relation to certain specific situations.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of students from over 100 countries take the FCE exam. In Mexico, many schools and institutions where English is taught have successfully incorporated this exam into their syllabus. In the Humboldt School, students will be encouraged to do the "Mock" exam in February (which acts as a practice-run and where they can see their strengths and weaknesses) and the actual exam in June. The results will come out in July.
The FCE exam consists of 5 parts: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening Comprehension and Speaking.
The official exams are sent off to the United Kingdom where they are marked by trained professionals. All students who reach the levels A, B or C will receive a certificate for having passed the exam.
The students also receive an analysis of their performance in the different parts of the exam.
The FCE is recognized by business companies and educational institutions for Higher Education both in Mexico and in such countries as the USA, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Spain, France, Argentina and the UK, amongst others. |
